Philosophy of Education
Teaching is a compelling practice and a wonderful vocation or calling. I believe that education at large should provide children with the opportunity to improve in practical skills, provide the ability to develop critical thinking in traditional and beyond traditional boundaries. It will therefore help develop and discover new ideas that represent divergent cultural and intellectual perspectives. I strongly stand on the fact that education should prepare children to become informed and active global citizens.
As a professional world language teacher (French teacher) and a linguist, I have the privilege to facilitate and develop the learning process in a variety of multicultural settings. I endlessly try to enhance children technical mastery and creative use of languages as well as strive to expand their perspectives, intellectual independence, tolerance and appreciation of cultural differences
In my classrooms, I foster constantly a nurturing environment in the hope that it would enable learners to feel more comfortable to communicate in, experiment with, and ultimately learn French. In all my classes, I strive to promote positive and encouraging group atmosphere, establish serious mutual respect, and practice common friendly courtesy; in so doing making the learners feel like valuable individuals and appreciated members of the learning community.
Children learn by doing and by playing in a variety of concise contexts. I believe that access to a variety of activities in the class or outside the class is a necessary step in language acquisition. Interaction are crucial aspect in world/foreign language education and its practicality. My teaching style and or method are consequently composed of a variety of oral and written activities. My classes contain differentiated instruction, blended instruction with technology integration styles rooted in the speaking, reading, listening and reading of the French language.
Consequently, to increase my students’ exposure, I thoroughly incorporate a variety of authentic materials such as current books, magazines, games, videos, music, internet and online classrooms platforms. For rich, appropriate, interest oriented and varied input help to provide a solid foundation for world/foreign language learning and help address learners’ or students’ individual learning styles
My broader educational philosophy is to introduce at all price my students to concepts such as environmental, social issues and social responsibility. Hence, learning activities and or processes should resonate well with all (students, teachers/educators, parents) and potentially transform the intellectual, social and professional lives of youngsters in knowing that: “Every scholar is unique and different”.
